Commonwealth Development is seeking to rezone an approximately 6-acre site located south of the southeast corner of Camelback Road and 75th Avenue (rezoning case number Z-70-21) to change the site’s zoning from R1-6 (Single-Family Residential) to R3-A (Multi-family Residential).
Currently, Arizona’s affordable housing shortage is near the worst in the U.S. According to AZ Central “the Phoenix area is in the midst of a growing housing shortage that’s pushing up home process and rents, leaving many people with too few options to find a place they can afford.” Commonwealth Development has held a mission since 2011 to develop high quality, affordable housing that residents are proud to call home. They are the 12th largest affordable housing developer in the U.S. and plan to provide another successful project here in the Phoenix west valley.
The proposed residential development consists of five 3-story buildings, totaling 120 units. It also contains one single-story clubhouse and a large central amenity area with generous landscaping throughout. The development will be known as The Marq. The R3-A zoning will be will create a buffer between the existing commercial on the corner and the single-family residential to the south.
